German-Cypriot Youth Exchange Programme

The German-Cypriot Youth Exchange Programme (GCYEP), that will take place this summer in Cyprus, is calling for participants. It will run for 10 days from 22 of July until the 2 of August 2011. The GCYEP was established in 2007. Every year an exchange takes place either in Germany or in Cyprus alternately. The organisers, including CCMC member IKME, are calling for young persons from Cyprus, from ages 16 to 27 that are interested to participate in the programme’s activities and spend together 10 days full of lively experiences, a friendly atmosphere, interesting visits, political discussions and workshops.

Public Discussion on '‘Towards a Federal Settlement', 27 June 2011

UNDP-ACT projects Cyprus 2015 and ENGAGE-Do Your Part for Peace, are inviting participation in a public discussion on ‘Towards a Federal Settlement of the Cyprus problem: Hopes and Fears’ on Monday, 27 June 2011, from 18:00-21:00, at the Home for Cooperation, Buffer Zone, Nicosia. This event is aiming to bring together high-level personalities, Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot CSOs as well as key media representatives in an effort to enhance dialogue among the different parties on key dimensions of a federal settlement in Cyprus. The discussion is being co-organised by the ‘Engage – Do Your Part for Peace’ project (www.engage4peace.org) and the ‘Cyprus2015: Research and Dialogue for a Sustainable Future’ project (www.cyprus2015.org). The Special Representatives of the two Leaders, Mr Kudret Özersay and Mr George Iacovou will address this event.

Wonder Women residency underway!

The Wonder Women residency bringing together artists from Cyprus and the States, is underway! To keep up with the adventures of the participants, please visit their blog here. Wonder Women is a residency program in its sixth year hosted by _gaia at their studio in Jersey City, NJ. First screening of the film ‘Sharing an Island’

The documentary feature film ‘Sharing an Island’ is set for its official first screening, at the Rialto theatre in Limassol, on Friday, the 24th June 2011. The screening starts at 20:30. The film has been produced through the Engage-Do your Part for Peace programme and through the ‘Youth Activism Project’ implemented by the Cyprus Network for Youth Development. The entrance to the screening is free. The screening will be followed by a cocktail party in Heroes Square, opposite the Rialto Theatre. Following its initial screening, the film will be screened in other areas of Cyprus, during the summer and the beginning of autumn.
